Children and Youth Fitness provides developmentally appropriate knowledge, skills, and tools—including physical literacy and fundamental movement skills—to help you design safe and effective physical activity programs for children and youth. This course is ideal for fitness professionals, after-school program coordinators, teachers, and coaches who are interested in leading engaging activities for young people.
Topics include:
• Child and adolescent physical development, exercise participation, and activity adherence
• Physical, psychological, social, and moral considerations in program design
• Creative program planning and delivery
• Motivation theories and leadership skills
• Physical literacy and fundamental movement skills
Important: To obtain MFC certification in Children and Youth Fitness, participants must hold an MFC certification. Prerequisites include Exercise Theory and an MFC certification, such as Group Fitness or Resistance Training.
To gain the MFC certification in Children/Youth Fitness you must hold an MFC certification.
Pre-requisites = Exercise Theory and an MFC Certification (ie: Group Fitness or Resistance Training).
