Webinar - The 'Ins & Outs' of Breathing during Exercise

February 12, 2024 online - Free webinar = 1 CEC

Register Here

EVENT DETAILS: Breathing is an essential part of life, but we rarely have to think about it until it becomes difficult. Exercise challenges our respiratory system in several ways, and breathing during exercise may be harder for some than for others. During this talk, we will discuss contemporary issues related to how humans breathe during exercise. In particular, we will focus on recent advances on the influence of sex and aging on the respiratory response to aerobic exercise. The overarching goal of the session will be to explore how the lungs are built for exercise!

Presented by Dr. Yannick Molgat-Seon who is an exercise physiologist with a particular interest in respiratory physiology. The overarching aim of his research is to improve our understanding of the influence of respiratory factors on exercise performance in healthy humans across the lifespan and in patients with chronic respiratory disease. To accomplish this aim, Dr. Molgat-Seon employs an integrative approach involving in vivo assessments of respiratory, cardiovascular, and muscular function during whole-body exercise. Current projects are focused on determining the effects of sex-differences in respiratory system morphology on the integrative response to exercise in healthy adults and how this might be modulated by the healthy aging process.

Webinar - Flex for Access - Prioritizing Access for All

Tuesday, January 23, 2024 7:00-8:00pm - ONLINE webinar

Movement is a mechanism for life. It signals creation and progress. It empowers and leads. Why then, is adaptive fitness not prioritized in the mainstream for individuals who are part of special populations? It wasn't until Flex for Access became a Non-Profit Organization.

Flex for Access' vision emerged from our Jess Silver's (the founder)personal story, passion for fitness and sport, and the realization that there needed to be a shift in education, and awareness of Cerebral Palsy (CP), specifically and other physical disabilities, and actionable opportunity for adaptive fitness and sport as ways to manage physical disability and acquired injury.

This webinar is worth 1.5 CECs.

Jess Silver is a Medical Writer, Motivational speaker, Adaptive Fitness Personal Trainer, and Founder of Flex for Access Inc. She is also a 2x Amazon Bestselling Author of Run: An Uncharted Direction (2020) and Life's Lava: Quotes, Values and Reflections That Light Our Souls and Colour Our Days With Reason (2021). She has an MA in Creative Writing, A PGD, in Medical Writing and Editing, and is a Certified TPCS 2.0 Researcher on Human Subjects. She founded Flex for Access Inc. because of her own lived experience with Cerebral Palsy and passion for exercise and sport. Through engaging in daily rigorous exercise, Jess saw first-hand the difference that exercise made in managing CP and she has always endeavored to redefine the awareness of disability. Through Flex for Access this is done, by creating actionable opportunity for adaptive fitness and sport within mainstream settings.
